Best Things to Do in Nha Trang, Vietnam
2026 Travel Guide

Nha Trang is one of the best beach destinations in Vietnam, offering a mix of tropical islands, historic temples, scenic viewpoints, waterfalls, and lively markets. While the city itself is compact, the surrounding region is full of incredible places that are easy to visit on day trips.

What You'll Find in This Guide

This guide covers the best things to do in Nha Trang in 2026, including must-see attractions, beautiful beaches, island adventures, and lesser-known spots that many travelers overlook, whether you're visiting for a few days or planning a longer stay.

To make this guide easier to navigate, the best things to do in Nha Trang are grouped into different categories - including beaches, cultural landmarks, nature spots, islands, and day trips.
This article highlights some of the best places in Nha Trang, but it’s not a complete list. For a full collection of locations, including hidden spots and a Google map with 100+ cafes and restaurants, check out my full guide.

Best Time to Visit Nha Trang

Nha Trang has a warm tropical climate year-round, with temperatures usually ranging between 25–32°C (77–90°F). The best time to visit is generally from February to August, when the weather is sunny, the sea is calm, and conditions are ideal for beaches, island trips, and snorkeling.

The rainy season lasts from September to December, when short tropical showers are more common and the sea can be rough.

Explore the Beaches of Nha Trang

Nha Trang Beach

Nha Trang Beach
Nha Trang Beach is the city’s main beach and stretches for about 6 kilometers along the coastline. It’s easily accessible from the city center and is lined with palm trees, parks, cafes, and hotels.

The beach is usually divided into two main areas - the central and southern sections near Tran Phu Street, which are the most developed and popular with tourists, and the northern part of the beach, which tends to be quieter.

Bai Dai Beach (Long Beach)

Bai Dai beach, Cam Ranh
Located about 25 km from the city, in Cam Ranh, Bai Dai Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the region. The sand is soft and light-colored, and the sea is usually clear.
In recent years the area has developed quickly, with beach clubs and resorts appearing along the coastline, but many quiet stretches still remain.

Doc Let Beach

Doc Let beach
Doc Let Beach is located about 50 km north of Nha Trang and is famous for its shallow turquoise water and powdery white sand.
It’s quieter than the city beaches and feels more relaxed. Many locals from Nha Trang come here on weekends.

Famous Temples and Cultural Sites

Long Son Pagoda

Long Son Pagoda
Long Son Pagoda is one of the most important Buddhist temples in Nha Trang. The highlight is the giant 24-meter white Buddha statue sitting on top of a hill.

Climbing the steps to the statue also gives you a panoramic view over the city.

Po Nagar Cham Towers

Po Nagar Cham Towers
These ancient towers were built between the 7th and 12th centuries by the Cham civilization. The complex was dedicated to the goddess Po Nagar, who was believed to protect the region.

Today it remains an active religious site and an important historical attraction.

Mountain Church

Cathedral Nha Trang
Also known as the Nha Trang Cathedral or Stone Church, is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the city. The cathedral was built between 1928 and 1933 by French priest and sits on a small hill in the center of Nha Trang, which is why locals often call it the “Mountain Church.”

The church is designed in French Gothic style, featuring stone walls, stained-glass windows, and a tall bell tower topped with a cross. I highly recommend visiting this place.

Excursions to this church and the previously mentioned locations are included in a daytime tour.

Ba Làng Church

Ba Làng Church
Ba Làng Church is a historic Catholic church located in the northern part of Nha Trang. Built during the French colonial period, it remains an important religious center for the local Catholic community and has a calm, authentic atmosphere.

One of the most interesting times to visit is during a church service, when many local residents gather for prayer. The church fills with worshippers, and the service often includes choir singing and traditional hymns, creating a unique and memorable experience for visitors who want to see a different side of everyday life in Nha Trang.

Take an Island Hopping Tour

Island hopping is one of the most popular activities in Nha Trang. Several beautiful islands are located just a short boat ride from the coast.

Most island hopping tours depart from the main harbor in the morning and visit two to four islands in a single day. Typical tours include snorkeling stops, swimming, lunch on board or on one of the islands, and plenty of time to enjoy the scenery.

Hon Mieu Island

Hon Mieu Island
Hon Mieu Island is one of the closest islands to Nha Trang and can be reached by a short boat ride from the mainland. It’s often included in island-hopping tours and is known for its relaxed atmosphere and scenic coastal views.

One of the main attractions on the island is the Tri Nguyen Aquarium, a unique building designed to look like an old pirate ship. Visitors can also explore the small fishing village, watch local boats coming and going, and enjoy fresh seafood at simple waterfront restaurants.

The island also has a private beach area with an entrance fee (Soi Beach), where visitors can relax, swim, and enjoy a quieter beach environment compared to the busy city shoreline.

Hon Tam Island

Hon Tam Island is known for its beautiful beaches and relaxed atmosphere. Unlike some of the busier islands, Hon Tam feels more peaceful and is a popular place to spend a quiet day by the sea.
The island is home to several resorts and beach clubs where visitors can enjoy kayaking, swimming, sunbathing, or spa treatments overlooking the ocean.

This island is next to Hon Mieu, a little further from the mainland.

Hon Mun Island

Hon Mun Island is widely considered the best snorkeling and diving spot near Nha Trang, the farthest of the previous two islands. The island is part of Vietnam’s first marine protected area and is known for its colorful coral reefs and diverse marine life.

The water around Hon Mun is usually very clear, making it ideal for spotting tropical fish while snorkeling. Many diving tours also operate here, as the underwater ecosystem is one of the richest in the region.

Visit VinWonders Nha Trang

VinWonders Nha Trang is one of the largest entertainment complexes in Vietnam and a major attraction in the region. The park is located on Hon Tre Island and can be reached by a scenic cable car ride that stretches across the sea, offering beautiful views of Nha Trang Bay.
Once on the island, visitors will find a large theme park with a wide variety of attractions for all ages.
The park includes:
  • a large water park
  • roller coasters and amusement rides
  • an aquarium and marine exhibits
  • beaches and relaxation areas
  • evening shows and entertainment
Many visitors spend an entire day here enjoying the rides, water slides, and island scenery. Tickets can sell out during peak travel periods, so it’s often a good idea to book in advance.

Explore Scenic Nature Around Nha Trang

Ba Ho Waterfalls

Ba Ho Waterfalls is one of the most popular nature spots near Nha Trang, located about 25 km north of the city. The name “Ba Ho” means “Three Pools,” referring to three natural rock pools connected by a series of small waterfalls.

Visitors can hike through the jungle to reach the pools, where many people stop to swim or relax on the surrounding rocks. However, reaching the higher pools requires a bit of effort. The trail becomes more challenging, and in some sections you’ll need to climb over large boulders and rocky paths, so a reasonable level of fitness and proper footwear are recommended.

Yang Bay Tourist Park

Yang Bay Waterfalls is located about 45 km from Nha Trang in a lush valley surrounded by forested mountains. The waterfall itself is large and impressive, cascading down rocks into a natural pool below.

The park around the waterfall also offers hot springs, small lakes, walking paths, and cultural performances, making it a popular day trip for visitors who want to explore nature outside the city.

Local Markets in Nha Trang

Cho Dam Market

Cho Dam Market
Exploring local markets is one of the best ways to experience everyday life in Nha Trang. The city has both traditional daytime markets and lively night markets.

The most famous daytime market is Cho Dam Market, the largest market in Nha Trang. It’s a busy local hub where you’ll find clothing, local snacks, dried seafood, fruits, and souvenirs. It’s also a good place to see how locals shop and experience the atmosphere of a traditional Vietnamese market.

In the evening, the Nha Trang Night Market near Tran Phu Street becomes a popular toutist spot for visitors. Here you’ll find street food stalls, souvenirs, handmade items, and small local snacks. It’s a great place to take a walk after dinner and try some Vietnamese street food.

Where to Stay

The best area for first-time visitors is Tran Phu Beach, where most hotels, restaurants, and bars are located.
